Argentine Gov't stumbles and bill confirmation takes longer
Yesterday government got more entangled in the ratification of the export tariff bill. After announcing an internal agreement within government benches, now once again in doubt, farmers and members of the opposition rejected compensations offered by Kirchnerists to convince small producers. Leaders of government benches had to go back to the Presidential Palace in order to negotiate other improvements to try a new offer. Having the votes needed to ratify the bill is not enough. Government legislators know that it's not worth paying the political cost if protests will resume on the following day.
