Cabinet Chief shows support towards upcoming Sovereignty Day public holiday

Cabinet Chief Aníbal Fernández talked about the upcoming Sovereignty Day, which was declared to be celebrated on November 20 but will instead be transferred to Monday 22 for it to be a national public holiday, modifying the current holidays' scheme. Fernández criticized those blasting President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner's decision for "showing such a great lack of knowledge towards our country's history."

The Cabinet Chief used his Twitter account to speak on the matter and criticized journalist Marcelo Longobardi who, early in the morning, had put the decision of celebrating Soreveignty Day into question as "the Battle of Vuelta de Obligado was an irrelevant episode and not worthy of celebration."

Fernández replied back: "The Battle of Vuelta de Obligado concluded the process of making our nation a free and independent one as it prevented small countries from being colonized."

This way, the Cabinet Chief praised the upcoming new holiday and summed up his criticism: "Is it necessary to show such a great lack of knowledge towards history?"
