She pointed out that the Argentine government is carrying out works that had been postponed decades ago. She talked about poverty reduction and wage increase, «the best from México downwards.» According to President Kirchner, these data reveals «the strength (of the country).»
She also took the time to criticize local and foreign prophets of doom who forecasted «energy cataclysms» (which, she stated, did not take place). Furthermore, she leveled harsh criticism at opinions expressed by large financial centers on Argentina's fate and reminded that «it would have been more interesting if they had analyzed their own accounts and balance sheets, instead of Argentina's, who's here, humbly on its feet.»
As if giving a lecture, she asked the Argentine people to look at themselves with «better eyes», as she believes that in large urban centers there is a cultural tendency to pay more attention to forecasts coming from abroad. Contradicting herself, she continued criticizing central countries that «are constantly talking about risks in the rest of world, though nobody mentioned Lehman Brothers or Merrill Lynch's risk, nor that of so many other companies we're now watching collapse. It's not something to get happy about, because nobody can be happy when these kinds of things happen. It's simply something to learn from.»
