Debt swap: high local acceptance rate but few adhesions abroad

The Argentine government on Sunday said that in the first week of the country's debt swap creditors holding 23.2 percent of debt in default had signed up for the offer. Only a 2 per cent represent foreign holders.

Economy Ministry spokesman Armando Torres stated that the government informed Italian regulators on Friday that creditors with $19 billion in defaulted debt had taken up the offer since it began on Jan. 14.
