The relationship between the International Monetary Fund and Argentina remains at a standstill when it comes to the revision of the Argentine macroeconomic data included in the IMF Article IV.
Caroline Atkinson, director of the IMF's External Relations Department, told ámbito.com that the entity "is willing to deepen the dialogue with Argentina regarding the Article IV, although we don't plan to do so in the short term."
"Article IV" refers to the process of evaluation of any IMF member's account in order to contribute to its international financial stability. It's a "mutual vigilance" that all member states agree to when joining the Fund. IMF Article IV economic reviews are conducted annually in each of the Fund's 186 member countries, but Argentina has refused to have one since 2006.
