Investment in Argentina totaled US$5.16B in October, according to the Monthly Local Gross Investment Index (IBIM-OJF, in its Spanish acronym) elaborated by the Center for the Economic Studies lead by Orlando Ferreres & Asociados.

The Monthly Local Gross Investment Index declined 6.5 percent year-on-year, mainly due to the negative performance posted in the acquisition of durable equipment (-14 percent). It gains 0.8 percent in October from September in non-seasonal terms. Thus, investment would represent 21.6 percent of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in real terms, according to Orlando Ferreres & Asociados.

The Center for the Economic Studies reported the investment on machines and equipments declined 14 percent year-on-year. However, it increased 0.5 percent in October in non-seasonal terms, mainly owing to the purchase of durable goods manufactured in Argentina (+1.6 percent).

Machinery and equipment import meanwhile dropped 0.2 percent in non-seasonal terms, the private report added.

The construction sector declined 0.8 percent in October compared to the same period last year, which represents a 1 percent increase in non-seasonal terms, according to Orlando Ferreres & Asociados.
