Lower House passes electronics bill

The Lower House of Congress approved the draft bill to increase the value added tax on imported electronic goods, after the amendments and modifications submitted by the Upper House. The bill was approved by 126 votes in favor, 7 against and 54 abstentions.

The electronic goods bill is set to increase the value added tax rate on imported electronic goods, aimed at promoting the regional electronic production in the province of Tierra del Fuego.

On October 22, the Senate approved the bill by 35 votes against 6, and 2 abstentions.
