Argentina and Bolivia sign joint statement on power integration

Argentina and Bolivia signed Tuesday in Montevideo, Uruguay a joint statement in which they reaffirm their interest in the infrastructure development to connect their power systems as well as gas pipelines, as reported by official sources.

Argentina's President Nestor Kirchner and Bolivia's Carlos Mesa signed the document at a bilateral meeting held before the Summit of the Mercosur trade bloc.

The document stated that the system connection between the two countries will strength the regional integration and it will place Argentina and Bolivia "as the main power suppliers of the southern part of the continent."


The convenience of bilateral initiatives was also stated due to the circumstances the two countries are going through to obtain additional investments for big projects.
