President Kirchner: IMF is not the panacea
Argentina's President Nestor Kirchner stated on Thursday that the agreement with the IMF signed yesterday does not mean that all problems are solved because the country "owes 150 per cent of its GDP, and a default for the Guiness book of $95 billions."

Kirchner pointed out that the refinancing of loan maturities with multilateral organizations included in the deal "means the possibility of a money bridge to rebuild Argentina gradually."

He confirmed that the agreement does not contain "an adjustment scheme" and that "the only issue if to reach to 3 per cent of the fiscal surplus" in 2004. "This year we have a fiscal surplus close to 2.9 per cent and we are working actively," Kirchner said.
