"As long as inflation keeps on being denied, it is difficult to implement measures to fight it," Vice President Julio Cobos told reporters during former president Raúl Alfonsín's death anniversary homage.
Cobos then described inflation as "one of the main issues the country is facing." He highlighted that some people "deny its existence," and that "as long as it continues to be denied, it'll be more and more difficult to fight against it."
"For a society, battling something means acknowledging it first," Cobos ended.
Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo meanwhile harshly replied Cobos and accused him of "not fulfilling his duties as the country's Vice-President and failing to be a member of the current Government after being elected into office as the President's running mate."
"He is trying to become the opposition leader, in clear violation of his responsibilities," Randazzo stressed, and accused Cobos of "not being truthful," because "inflation is a widespread price increase, and that is not what is happening in Argentina, where just some prices have gone up."
"Of course, we are going to make an effort to stop this," the official added.
"President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner's administration has a very responsible money circulating policy, a competitive exchange rate, as well as fiscal surplus for the last 7 years. And we are currently in the middle of a debt reduction procedure," Randazzo stressed.
Interior Minister Florencio Randazzo placed emphasis on his request to businessmen. Likewise, he assured that the administration has always defended "workers' purchasing power."
